“Brother” is the brand new single from No Rome and the primary new music from him because the launch of his debut album It’s All Smiles in 2021. The one arrives with the announcement of Blueboy Should Die a seven-track mixtape.
The brand new single, produced by Kurisu and recorded in London, finds No Rome exploring platonic love, impressed by poet Rachel McKibbens and conversations with Kurisu in the course of the studio classes, as he explains: “Me and Chris (Kurisu) had been listening to an outdated report known as Plantasia by Mort Garson whereas watching random shit about AIs – we began speaking about all these idealisms about faith and the significance of companionship and falling out and in of relationships with buddies within the studio.”
The one arrives with a video directed by Ben Brook, set in a dystopian underworld, with AI and distorted tech which sees No Rome navigating the human problems with a tech pushed downfall, while presenting a sequence of surreal observations on mass-consumerism.
No Rome continues: “There’s this poem that Rachel McLibbens wrote known as “Letter from my Heart to my Brain” that I learn which is among the inspirations to the lyrics. In there she says “It’s okay to really feel like solely {a photograph} of your self, to want a stranger to tug your hair and pin you down”. That spoke a lot to me, understanding that its okay to fuck up. I felt the necessity to write one thing that reveals love in a platonic manner and being there for one another extra”
